Remaining healthy while sitting behind a desk nine to five can be challenging. However, as we consume at least a third of our food intake while at work, it is important that we make positive food and drink choices while at the office.

As making small changes can help you maintain a well-balanced diet at the office, to further support energy levels and general well-being throughout the day that can positively affect our work performance too.

Food for Thought: Replace your biscuit drawer for healthy snacks to power through your day. Having healthy choices on hand will also help prevent a visit to the vending machine on your tea break.

Nibble on:

Fruit
Nuts
Rice cakes with wholewheat peanut butter spread
Dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao)
Natural yogurt and blueberries

Hydration:

Buy yourself a reusable water bottle to keep at your desk, and set a goal for how many times you want to refill, to keep you feeling alert and hydrated. Try also replacing regular tea and coffee for herbal tea such as green or peppermint for added antioxidants intake.

Walk it Out:

This will apply accordingly to your job, however at any opportunity remove yourself from your desk and walk. Taking even ten minutes on your lunch break can help energise you for the rest of the day. Finally, we’ve heard this time again – replace the elevator for the stairs. Every little counts!
