January is the busiest time for gyms. As like many, we make the yearly “I want to lose weight” resolution. Regardless of enthusiasm at the beginning of the year, come mid-February the gym attendance drops back to normal.

With the correct steps taken, commitment and support, your resolutions can be achievable. So here are some steps you can take:

1. Write It – By writing down your goal, it helps you to visualize and map how to achieve them. Follow our goal setting post to help you get started.

2. Don’t Beat Yourself Up – Obsessing over the occasional slip won’t help you achieve your goal. Do the best you can each day, and take one day at a time.

3. Ask For Help – It’s our job as trainer to help, so don’t be self-conscious to ask for advice. Whether it’s asking about technique or motivation advice – we’re here to help!

4.Treat Yourself – Reached a goal? Celebrate it with a reward that won’t undo your hard work. This will help build a momentum that can help reach those milestones faster than you think. Whether it’s buying a new nail polish, having a relaxing bath or a night to the cinema – do it!

5. Don’t give up – Experts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity to become a habit, so be persistent and patient!
